Where can I access your policies & procedures?

Our policies and procedures can be accessed via a folder in our main lobby area. Alternatively if a particular policy is required please email and this can be arranged. Refer to our policy and procedure section in, ‘Policies & procedures’.

 

Do I pay for holiday?

Yes, parents/carers are required to pay for their child’s sessions and not their attendance, as staffing levels have to be maintained during absence. Please help yourself to our holiday form in our lobby area to complete and then hand into the office or access a form in our ‘Forms’ section.

 

Are you flexible with sessions?

We can be flexible with sessions, if we have the availability. This is also providing we have 14 days notice. We can swap sessions only in any same week. Speak to your nursery manager to check for availability and/or help yourself to a change of session form in our lobby area to complete, then hand to the manager for confirmation or access a form in our ‘Forms’ section.

 

Will you toilet train my child?

The child’s key person will work with parents/carers and the child during toilet training. It is vital that children feel settled, safe, secure and confident to approach their key person before this process begins. Toilet training should start at home and we will work with the routine. Please speak to your child’s key person for support and guidance.

Do I have to have a home visit?

No, home visits are not compulsory, but we strongly recommend a home visit, as it fully supports a child’s transition from home to nursery. Building a secure and trusting relationship with a child’s key person is so important and it is during a home visit where this begins. When do I have to pay my bill?

Choochoos emails invoices at the beginning of every month to parents/carers, to be paid by the 15th of the month. Interest and fees are applied to this invoice if it is not paid by the 22nd of the month. For more information refer to section ‘Your invoice explained’.

 

How can I use my child’s funding?

Choochoos offers funding to be used during term time, allowing parents/carers to pay during the holidays. Or Choochoos offers stretched funding, where by the funding is less each week, but stretched to cover the whole year. Stretched funding prevents large bills during the holidays, allowing a child to do less hours all year round or parents/carers can top up the difference. How much notice do I have to give when my child leaves to go to school?

Choochoos requires one months written notice for a child leaving. This can be in hand written format or via email.

 

I have a query with my invoice, who can help?

How do I change or add an additional permanent session on for my child?

Speak to your nursery manager to check for availability and/or help yourself to a change of session form in our lobby area to complete, then hand to the manager for confirmation or access a form in our ‘Forms’ section.

 

How do I access the eyLog for my child?

Parents/carers are emailed a link when their child starts Choochoos, by following this link and instructions it enables parents/carers to begin accessing their child’s learning journey and contribute from home. If you have any issues with eyLog please contact your nursery manager or Sam our senior administrator on admin@choochoos.co.uk.

Can I visit Choochoos to share my occupation/hobby with the children?

Yes, of course! Please see your nursery manager to arrange and refer to our parent rota log displayed in our lobby area.

 

What do I do when considering a school reception place for my child?

Choochoos keeps parents/carers thoroughly updated with starting school information. This information is communicated to parents/carers via email, posters in the lobby, folder with leaflets, an information display board and verbally. For more information refer to section, ‘Being school ready’.

 

What are Choochoos yearly closure dates?

Choochoos is open all year round, but closes for bank holidays and over the Christmas period. For more information refer to our section, ‘Dates for diary’  Canterbury, Dover, Whitstable.

 

What roles do staff fulfil at Choochoos?

Choochoos allocate staff additional roles, such as Designated Safeguarding Officer, Health and Safety Officer, Makaton Advocate, etc. For more information please refer to our staff roles and responsibilities poster in the lobby or refer to section, ‘Roles & responsibilities’.
