7th International Chocolate Day – We are sure the children are going to enjoy learning all about chocolate, how it’s made and how it tastes on this special day!
16th National Ice Cream Day – The children will learn about how ice cream is made and will taste some different flavours.
20th – Graduation Morning/Leaving Party

26th Aunt and Uncles Day – The children will be making special cards for special people on this day.
Dates for June 2017
12th /13th – Parent’s Evening – you will be emailed during May to arrange a time and day for your Parents Evening appointment with your Keyperson – please book early as spaces will be allocated on a first come, first served basis.
17th – Open Morning 9.30-12.30pm – The nursery and gardens will be open to all current and prospective parents, carers and families to come along, and join in some fun. We’ve got a breakfast BBQ, craft activities, raffle, cake sale and more. We look forward to seeing you then!
18th – Fathers Day
21st – Dover Transition Day for nurseries to meet new teachers
Teachers are invited into the nursery to meet your children and talk to their key person.

Easter Bonnet Parade and Easter Egg Hunt – Thursday 13th April 2017 1.15pm – 3pm – Children not due to atend nursery on this day are welcome to come along and join in the fun but must be accompanied by an adult, bring your Easter bonnet with you! Light refreshments will be available.
We are closed for the Easter Holiday on Good Friday (14th April) and Easter Monday (17th April) and re open on Tuesday 18th April.

St. David’s Day – Wednesday 1st – Our children will be making daffodils and learning about this day.
World book day – Thursday 2nd – Children are invited to dress up as their favourite book characters and bring in books to share. All parents and Families are invited to come into read or spend time within the session.
Holi festival of colours – Monday 13th – Our children will be learning about this festival exploring colour, patterns and making marks.
St. Patrick’s Day – Friday 17th .
World poetry Day – Tuesday 21st – Our children will be exploring songs, poems and rhymes.
Sports Relief – Friday 24th – Choochoos will be raising money for sport relief by inviting all staff and children to wear red and sport clothes for £1. We will have a cake sale and other activities to raise money for this.
Mother’s day – Sunday 26th – Our children will be making items for the ones we love throughout the week.
Easter Half term dates – Monday 3rd April – Friday 14th April.
Bank holiday Friday 14th and Monday 17th. CLOSED.
- Tuesday 7th February to Monday 13th February – Story Telling Week.
Our children will be celebrating story telling week by focusing on different stories throughout the week, making their own props and visiting the library. All parents and families are welcome to come in and read to our children or take part in a story time.
- Tuesday 14th February—Valentines day, we will be celebrating Valentines day by talking about the ones we love and making items for them which they will be bringing home.
- Week commencing Monday 27th February – Parents Evening, all parents/ families will be invited to meet with your child’s key person to discuss their progress and development. Your input is important to us in reviewing your child’s next steps. Your child’s key person will also be asking for your input to provide some evidence on post it notes. Please fill out and return the post it notes to your child’s key person as soon as you can. Thank you.
- Tuesday 28th February – Pancake day, we will be teaching the children about the meaning of pancake day. They will be baking their own pancakes throughout the week. Our children will also be visiting the bakery this week.

What’s on at Choochoos Day Nursery Whitstable
Australia Week – Monday 23rd to Friday 27th January
We will be celebrating Australian Culture. We will be trying Australian food, learning songs & dances, cooking Australian food and Emily our Australian Practitioner will be visiting all the room throughout the week to teach the children about Australia. Children and staff are invited to wear/bring in anything Australian throughout the week.
Chinese New Year – Monday 30th January to Friday 3rd February 2017
We will be celebrating Chinese New Year this week. We will be exploring Chinese culture, making Chinese food, listening to Chinese music and learning Chinese words. Children and staff are invited to bring in any Chinese stories or activities.
What’s on for November and December 2016:
Tuesday 1st November – Choochoos will be exploring bonfire night this week, we will be creating bonfire/firework creations and teaching our children about the meaning of bonfire night.
Sunday 13th November – To celebrate Remembrance Sunday, we will be teaching our children the meaning of this day, making our own poppies and talking about our families and loved ones.
Wednesday 16th November – A Cat Protection Lady will be visiting our Butterfly and Caterpillar children to talk about how to care and look after cats.
Friday 18th November – Choochoos will be supporting Children in Need, to support this charity and raise funds we will be inviting all children and staff to wear spots all or part of the week for a voluntary donation of £1. We are also holding a Bouncy Castle Sponsored Bounce, in which your child can collect sponsors to raise money. Please see your child’s key person if you would like your child to take part in this. Other ways parents/families could get involved in this fund raising, should you wish to, would be to bake cakes/items for us to sell.
Monday 21st November – Road Safety week. We will be teaching our children about road safety and will be visited by the local Road Safety Officer.

Monday 5th December 2.00-3.30pm – Choochoos craft afternoon, all parents and families are welcome to join us in making a variety of Christmas items.
Friday 9th December 11.30-1.30pm – Our Christmas party, all children are welcome to join us for our Christmas party, even if they do not attend on this day, free of charge. Parents are not required to stay to supervise, but we do ask for a food donation. During the party, we will provide a Christmas party lunch, a visit from Santa, games and lots of fun!
Friday 9th December 10am – the Butterfly Christmas Performance at St Alphege Church, Whitstable. All parents are invited to attend the performance.
Last day – Friday 16th December , Closed – Monday 20th December and we reopen – Tuesday 3rd January 2017.

Choochoos Day Nursery will be closed for the Bank Holiday on Monday 30th May.
Children who attend term time only will not attend Choochoos during the week Tuesday 31st May through to Friday 3rd June 2016. Normal sessions apply from Monday 6th June.
Christmas Holiday Closure Dates 2016-2017
As many parents have already requested, please find below our closure dates for the Christmas period 2016. We do aim to keep in line with local school closures as much as possible.

Holiday Closure – Choochoos Day Nursery will be closing at 6pm on Friday 18th December and reopening on Monday 4th January at 8am. We would like to take this opportunity to wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year from all of the staff at Choochoos. We look forward in seeing you in 2016.

June 2015 – Choochoos will be celebrating our practitioner’s length of employment. We will be celebrating by giving employees a certificate with their length of time they have worked for Choochoos. We will also be providing them with badge with stars to show the number of years they have worked.
20 June 2015 – Summer Fete 10:30am – 1:30pm Donations welcome for prizes and stalls. All families very welcome to come along and support.
